Charity in Ramadan

charity 2-215

It is narrated that the Prophet Muhammad said: “Allah, the Exalted said, ‘Spend, O son of Adam, and Allah will spend on you.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Do you know that Prophet Muhammad was a most charitable person, and during the Month of Ramadan, he was the extremely charitable?

During Ramadan, Allah SWT increases reward and blessing upon His Servants. The Prophet (SAW) adopted this practice of charity.

SubhanAllah!

This means, of course, that being charitable is the Sunnah!

We should spend from our wealth, especially during Ramadan.

Prophet Muhammad said:  “The most virtuous Sadaqah (voluntary charity) is the Sadaqah in Ramadan” (Kanz ul Ammaal).

~

The Prophet said: “Saum (Fasting) is a Junnah (Shield), and Sadaqah  extinguishes sin, just as water extinguishes fire.”

 ~

Even if we don’t have wealth in the form of money, we can always be charitable. A smile towards your fellow Muslim, greeting your fellow Muslim properly, providing dates or even just a sip of water to someone breaking their fast, moving something harmful from a path, helping someone in their time of need…..all forms of charity.

SubhanAllah.

The Prophet said: “Avoid Hellfire, even by a part of a date (that you give away in charity). (Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

There are 10 good qualities in Sadaqah, five in this life, and five in the Hereafter.

The five for this life are:

1. Sadaqah cleanses the money

2. Sadaqah cleanses the body from sins

3. Sadaqah repels disasters and illnesses

4. Sadaqah brings happiness to the poor

5. Sadaqah brings blessings to the wealth and increase in the provisions: “And whatsoever you spend of anything (in Allah’s Cause), He will replace it.” (34:39).

The five for the Hereafter are:

1. Sadaqah shades its giver from the intense heat on the Day of Judgement

2.  Sadaqah makes one’s reckoning lighter

3. Sadaqah makes one’s scale of good deeds heavier.

4. Sadaqah helps cross over the bridge of the Hellfire

5. Sadaqah elevates one’s grade in Paradise.

This year, one of the charities that I will support, Insha’Allah, is called: Love for Humanity.

The charity was created by a young Muslim sister when she heard about the living conditions and educational conditions of young sisters in a very poor area of Pakistan.

The following is information on the charity:

This fund has been created to help raise funds and awareness of young students who live in a very poor area of Pakistan, Insha’Allah.

The majority of the students are teenage girls who get their fees from Zakat donations. Fees start from 100 euro  for a whole year for which girls are given very basic accommodations.

These accommodations often include sleeping in clustered halls on the floor and given very basic meals, typically watery dal. The living conditions are not good. They have little access to medicines and often suffer from head lice and other ailments.

Subhan’Allah, many of the girls are orphaned and they are so grateful for the opportunity to attend this school.

This is their ONLY means of education! They have no other options!

Sadaqa from this effort will also go towards helping to build a suitable classroom.

I know the sisters and brothers always are willing to help especially in the west, Insha’Allah.

We can make a difference, Insha’Allah! Take this opportunity to accumulate your good deeds! Donations of any amount would be so helpful.

Your donation will help provide the following:

Medicines, First Aid items, School Supplies, and other necessary living items.

Virtues of and lessons within the Month of Ramadan

Ramadan Mubarak

Tonight, many of us will begin our Ibadah and Worship for the Blessed Month of Ramadan and tomorrow we begin our fast, Insha’Allah. There are so many virtues of Ramadan that I have decided to share some each day as a reminder for us all, Insha’Allah.

Alhamdulillah

Allah (Subhanna Wa Ta’Ala) revealed the command to fast in the Month of Ramadan while the Prophet (PBUH) was in Madinah in the second year of Hijrah.

The first two things sent down to us all after the Prophet’s (PBUH)  migration to Madinah:

1. The first being changing the Qiblah towards Makkah instead of Jerusalem.

2. The second being the fasts of Ramadan.

Also…….

Prior to the fasts becoming obligatory for Muslims, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to seek solitute at Mount Hira during the month of Ramadan.

His Prophethood was revealed during the month of Ramadan.

The Qur’an was revealed during the month of Ramadan.

bismillahirrahmanirrahim

“This is the Book (The Qur’an), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al Muttaqun (the pious and righteous persons who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evl deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)” (Surah Al Baqarah: 2)

~

Virtue of the day:

Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “When Ramadan begins, the gates of Paradise are opened, and the gates of the Hellfire are closed and the devils are chained.(Bukhari and Muslim)

Do you question?

bismillahirrahmanirrahim

Then which of the Favors of your Lord will you both deny? (55:16)

~

SubhanAllah. Alhamdulillah. Allahu Akbar.

When I began jotting down my thoughts for this post, I was perplexed with comments that I’ve heard over the past few months from Muslims who seem to be wavering in their faith. I was a bit angry with them for not understanding the truth and not understanding the serious consequences of their faltering. I was resentful that they would have the impudence to be unhappy with Allah. Allahu Yahdika (May Allah guide you). I could not figure out how to help them to stay on the correct path and not lose their faith. I could not understand how, on one day a Muslim has faith and the next day, doesn’t have faith.  No faith and Muslim together? Does that make any sense?

Not to me, I find it to be a bit of an oxymoron.

Because as Muslims, we have faith.

Alhamdulillah.

I’ve heard the term “low eman” being thrown around, but that does not have anything to do with Allah, SubhanAllah Wa Ta’Ala.

It has everything to do with us. It has to do with our choice to submit, to follow His commands, to be patient with His provision and be patient with His tests. It has to do with our willingness to give up some of what we desire, all for His Pleasure. It has to do with our ability to seek all that is permissible and avoid the impermissible. It has to do with our patience and our acceptance of His Decree. It has to do with our struggle with our nafs, our ego, our weaknesses.

This dunya is a test from Allah. Don’t ever be disappointed in Allah. Ever!

Be disappointed in your disappointment because that is the ego, our nafs!

Do you think Allah is happy to know that people are disappointed in what He, Allah, SubhanAllah Wa Ta’Ala has provided? We know, through the Qur’an, what happens to those who have rejected His Commands.

Allah needs nothing from us. We need everything from Allah.

bismillahirrahmanirrahim

Then which of the Favors of your Lord will you both deny? (55:16)

bismillahirrahmanirrahim

“Here you are – those invited to spend in the cause of Allah – but among you are those who withhold [out of greed]. And whoever withholds only withholds [benefit] from himself; and Allah is the Free of need, while you are the needy. And if you turn away, He will replace you with another people; then they will not be the likes of you. (47:38)

So, I ask of you my beloved brothers and sisters in Islam:

Put aside your pride,

Set down your arrogance,

And, remember your grave.

(Ali ibn Abu Talib, RA)

~

“And Allah loves the patient.” (3:146)

~

As Muslims we believe, we have faith, Insha’Allah.

As Muslims we attain Ihsan, Insha’Allah.

Know your intentions, they should only be to please Allah, not to anger Him.

“And it is Allah that decreases or increases (your provisions), and unto Him you shall return. (2:245)

 ~

Remember, worship as if you see Allah, He certainly sees you. Allah, Al Basir.

Don’t think your du’a go unanswered. Call upon Allah, Al-Mujib.

Don’t despair. Seek peace through Allah, As-Salam.

Don’t be angry. Seek guidance through Allah, Al-Hadi.

Don’t regret. Seek forgiveness through Allah, Al-Ghaffar.

Don’t envy. Be pleased with what you have been given through Allah, Al-Mughni.

Don’t deny. Always be thankful to Allah, Al-Jabbar.

~

bismillahirrahmanirrahim

“He is Allah, beside Whom La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He ), the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen. He is the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. He is Allah, beside Whom La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the King, the Holy, the One Free from all defects, the Giver of security, the Watcher over His creatures, the All-Mighty, the Compeller, the Supreme. Glorified is Allah! High is He above all that they associate as partners with Him. He is Allah, the Creator, the Inventor of all things, the Bestower of forms. To Him belong the Best Names. All that is iin the heavens and the earth glorify Him. And, He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. (Al-Hashr: 22-24)

~

As Muslims, we believe. As Muslims, we submit. As Muslims, we love and worship our Creator. As Muslims, we accept all that Allah decrees. As Muslims, we know that our deeds are being recorded (both good and bad). As Muslims, we know that Allah fully  knows of our actions. As Muslims, we know that if we sin, we quickly seek Allah’s forgiveness. As Muslims, we know that Allah is Most Merciful to those who sincerely repent. As Muslims, we know Allah will provide for us. As Muslims, we know that living in this dunya is not easy and the path to Jannah is filled with trials. As Muslims, we are patient. As Muslims, we are kind. As Muslims we are charitable. As Muslims, we are modest in our dress and our behavior. As Muslims, we know that Allah tests us to bring us even closer to Him. As Muslims, we strive for acceptance into Jannatul Firdous.
